Unraveling the Myth of the Pose:
Behind each posture is a story connected to lineage and tradition which is a way to understand why each shape is still practiced.
Story helps us learn.
Myths help us remember.
This month's posture reminds me of Arjuna, the lead warrior from the Mahabhrata, one of the most famous epic Hindu myths.
In the chapter known as the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna faces a deeply challenging
decision as his loyalty is torn between his family of origin and his sworn warrior brotherhood.
It is on the battlefield that we witness Arjuna's great quest for peace.
Through his search for answers we see him uncovering more questions.
Eventually his charioteer and guide, an incarnation of Lord Krishna gives him the basic lessons of life, which is the first yoga lesson.
Warrior One might look simple though it is challenging to include and accomplish all of its contradictory alignment actions.
Approaching and executing the alignment of this shape increase the challenge of a posture that helps us find our strength, endurance and stamina.
Learn the precise alignment of the posture in class!
